Oxford, founded in 1096, is the oldest university in the English-speaking world — and unlike US universities, most Oxford courses require a subject-specific aptitude test in addition to your academic record.
90%+ overall and 95%+ in relevant subjects on CBSE/CISCE boards (State Boards are generally not accepted). English proficiency: TOEFL 110+ or IELTS 7.5+ overall, unless English was your medium of instruction.
| Course | Test |
|---|---|
| Mathematics & Computer Science | MAT |
| Physics & Engineering | PAT/ESAT |
| Law | LNAT |
| Economics/Philosophy/Psychology | TSA/TARA |
| Medicine | BMAT/UCAT |
You can apply to only one course at Oxford, and not to both Oxford and Cambridge in the same year. Register for your admissions test (June–September), submit your UCAS application by October 15, sit tests in October, and — if shortlisted — interview online in December. Final decisions arrive in early January.
Annual fees range from £37,000+ (Humanities) to £55,000–63,000+ (STEM/Engineering) plus living costs (~₹14–21 lakh/year). Oxford graduates commonly move into Banking & Investment, Consulting, and Policy roles, and the degree is a strong feeder into elite Master's and PhD programs worldwide.
